About

Angela J Elliott

Angela has written professionally for 18 years. Her original degree was in Fine Art and she worked as an Artist on journals and magazines for many years. All in all Angela has over 30 years of creative experience behind her. However, in the early 80s she detoured into science and became an Engineer in the semiconductor industry. For a while she worked in Senior Management for a subsidiary of ICI, liaising with Engineers all over the world. She began writing in the late 80s and this led to a career as a Producer/Writer in broadcast television.

In the late 90s Angela's career took another turn and she trained as an hypnotherapist. Hypnosis is primarily about communicating ideas to the unconscious mind - something TV and film does all the time! Learning about metaphor assisted in the storytelling process, and Angela developed a unique set of visualisation techniques that aid creativity.

Angela's TV work put her in contact with many performers and musicians. In order to help them with performance anxiety she developed a nerve-endings programme, and regularly sees performers in private practice.

A love of music has lead to Angela develop in the field of jazz poetry. She is also learning to play jazz piano.

Angela is a published novelist, and has written and produced both drama and documentary scripts. Her book Some Strange Scent of Death is available to order through all good bookshops and online. She is passionate about the storytelling process and believes that if you are creative in one area of your life you are probably creative in many areas, it just depends where you focus your energy and attention.

Despite the obvious love of music and the visual arts, Angela's first love remains writing. "For me it's all about communication - about telling stories. Every single person has a wonderful tale to tell. Uncovering these stories, setting them free, helping others to tell their stories - that's what writing is about for me."
